What the numbers mean
Width is where the three devices spread apart most. The Steam Deck OLED (298 mm) is 1.02 in (26 mm) wider than the Switch 2 (272 mm), and the Switch 2 is 1.18 in (30 mm) wider than the Switch OLED (242 mm). A bag pocket needs at least 10.71 in (272 mm) of internal width for the Switch 2 and 11.73 in (298 mm) for the Steam Deck OLED.
Height is nearly a tie between the Switch 2 and Steam Deck: 116 mm vs 117 mm, a gap of just 1 mm. The Switch OLED is 14 mm shorter than the Switch 2 and 15 mm shorter than the Steam Deck OLED.
Depth is where the Steam Deck stands apart. The Switch 2 and Switch OLED share the same 0.55 in (13.9 mm) body thickness and reach 1.21 in (30.7 mm) and 1.12 in (28.4 mm) at the analog sticks. Valve lists the Steam Deck OLED at 1.93 in (49 mm) overall, about 1.6 times the Switch 2's maximum depth, so a case sized for a Switch's 30.7 mm is too shallow for it.
